How Can I Know God’s Will? (Part 2 - Salvation)
When a baby starts learning to walk there are lots of teeters, stumbles, and falls.
Fortunately, the first step in knowing God’s will doesn’t have any of those! You can get right to it. Start walking in God’s will today.
The first step, the key to unlocking the mysterious will of God, is Jesus.
To get to God, to discover how He thinks and to understand how He does things, you have to start with a relationship with Jesus. He’s the way to God the Father. Yep, the only way.
He said, “No one comes to the Father but through Me” (John 14:6, NIV).
If you’ve already made that decision, already asked Jesus to come into your life and be Your Lord and Savior, then you can know God’s will. And, we’re family! (Fist bump.)
But, if you’ve never stood up and started walking in a relationship with Jesus, you can do that right now. No teetering, stumbling, or falling. It’s super easy. Well, easy for you. It wasn’t for Him.
First, acknowledge your need. Without Jesus, you are “dead in your sins” and separated from God forever. Yikes! But true. Not one person is good without Him (Romans 3:10-11). In fact, ALL have sinned and fallen short of His glory (Romans 3:23). The result of that (gulp) is spiritual death (Romans 6:23).
If you’re willing to say, “Ugh, that’s me” then let’s go to the next step.
Ask God to forgive you for your sins. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just and will forgive our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9, NIV).
Tell Him you believe Jesus died for you and rose to life in triumph over death. “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life” (John 3:16, NIV).
Ask Him to save you, come into your being, and seal you forever with His Holy Spirit. “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in Him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit” (Ephesians 1:13, NIV).
Thank Him for saving you and filling you with His Spirit so you can serve Him for the rest of your life, with the rest of your life. “You will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you” (Acts 1:8, NIV).
Amen! Now go tell someone you belong to Jesus. And congratulations!! I’ll see you in heaven, if not before.
