Where My Hope Is Set

If you feel like you’ve been looking at your problems for too long and are feeling consumed by
them, this encouragement is for you.
The older I get, the more I learn about giving over to God the timeline I have mentally sculpted
for myself over the years. But, that has come with a lot of heartache and disappointment. It’s
hard to understand why some people are reaching goals so easily that you have yet to attain;
marriage, a family, a home of your own. I do understand that everyone faces discontentment in
their life, things can feel a little dark. But, I was allowing it to block out the goodness God has
already blessed me with.
However, with the help of a song and scripture, I began to learn that those selfish feelings I was
ashamed to have were actually a key into some good talks at night with God. In Genesis
chapter 15, Abraham was really going through a dark time himself, waiting for things he had
been praying for. But God told Abraham to look at the stars, during the day and at night.
Genesis 15:5 “ Then the LORD took Abram outside and said to him, “Look up into the sky
and count the stars if you can. That’s how many descendants you will have!”
This scripture wasn’t about just God revealing His promise of a son to Abraham. This scripture
is also about God simply pointing out, just like how the stars aren’t visible at night, we don’t
need to see the plans God has for us to know that they are there, they are good, and the future
is bright. But the creator of the night left reminders to know that even in dark/confusing times,
there are reasons to look up and know He is still there and good.
With a combo of that scripture and the song attached below, “Magnify” by We Are Messengers, I
became thankful for the dark and what God teaches during those times/to this day. I hope this
encourages you to look up and keep faith like Abraham when the night seems too dark or life is
disappointing. God might be ready to tell you something that’s only written in the stars
