Ubuntu

Do you ever find new words and look for ways to work them into your vocabulary? Here’s a word that you might not be familiar with… I wasn’t.
Ubuntu: a quality that includes the essential human virtues; compassion and humanity. Kindness. The opposite of hatred and prejudice.
Over the past weekend, I stumbled across this word and had no idea what it meant. But after looking it up, Ubuntu is a word I’m going to try to find a place for in my life. But even more, the definition of ubuntu, is one I want to display in my life. Striving to be more courteous, kind, pleasant, showing God’s grace and generosity to others? To everyone. My neighbors, my brothers and sisters in Christ, even my enemies.
Each day God grants His children love, strength, honor, and opportunities to give and be gracious. So today I urge you to pray with awareness of that in your heart. Make every effort to add to your faith goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness, brotherly kindness, and love. Let these qualities increase and you’ll become more effective and productive in your witness of Christ. So let’s do our best to cut others some slack and give them the benefit of the doubt. Kindness always tries to see things from the other’s perspective. Kindness always responds with patience, gentleness and understanding. Ubuntu.
