Edmond Urban Forestry is hosting a virtual BioBlitz this September as part of a nationwide Parks for Pollinators initiative by the National Recreation and Park Association.
For a whole month, community members can help create a snapshot of the variety of wildlife that can be found in Bickham-Rudkin Park. We use a no-cost app called iNaturalist to take pictures of plants, insects and animals to see what wildlife is present in the park during this month.
We also have several opportunities to get involved during this BioBlitz event. More details for each event is available through the main event listing:

Come celebrate the town of Newkirk's heritage at Charlie Adams Day, a fun-filled festival for all ages. Numerous barbecue teams will be out in full force competing for top prizes and providing fantastic food to festival-goers. Get a tasting kit and enjoy traditional barbecue favorites like brisket, pork, chicken and beans, and then vote for your favorites. A handful of skilled Dutch oven teams will also provide demonstrations throughout the day. Witness what kinds of yummy desserts can be prepared in a Dutch oven and then sample the results. Another major part of Charlie Adams Day will be the Cruisin' for Charlie Poker Run and Car Show. All vehicles are welcome to participate in this fun event with the chance of winning cash prizes.
Charlie Adams Day will also feature booths filled with Arts and Crafts, as well as multiple vendors and games for children. Visitors to this small -town festival will also enjoy Country Music, Storytelling and Re-Enactors.
All entertainment is free, so make your way to Newkirk for plenty of live entertainment by local performers.

The Bison View 5K in Sulphur leads runners through the scenic Chickasaw National Recreation Area in south-central Oklahoma. Runners will pass a bison viewpoint, a historic mineral springs and have the opportunity to see wildlife along the trail. The Bison View 5K features a hybrid course certified by the USA Track and Field Organization.

Head to the Ponca City Hispanic Heritage Festival for an evening of fun. Bring the whole family to browse local food and craft vendors representing many different Hispanic cultures. You won't want to miss the live entertainment featuring Oklahoma guitarist Edgar Cruz as well as traditional dancers and local singers. During the festival, the Ponca City Library will host crafts and activities for the kids. Don't miss this fun event that has something for everyone to enjoy in Ponca City.
