Watonga Cheese Festival & Food Contest

Love cheese? Then mark your calendar!
Watonga, Oklahoma is the place to be on the weekend of October 10th and 11th for the Watonga Cheese Festival! The whole downtown will be buzzing with cheesy goodness and tons of family-friendly fun. It's a gouda time you won't want to miss!
Don't forget to get your entry into the Cheese Food Contest. This contest will be held at Watonga City Hall on Main Street. This year, the Senior (18 years and over) and Junior (under 18 years) divisions will run concurrent entry times from 8am to 9:30am on Saturday, October 11th with judging held for both divisions at 10am on Saturday.
Rules are identical for both divisions:
- The contest is open to any person who wishes to enter.
- Each entry must contain at least 3 oz. (approximately 1 cup) of cheese or cheese products.
- All exhibits should be at least one-half recipe of the dish, provided that the dish is presented attractively.
- All exhibits should be accompanied by the recipe for that particular dish. Please type or print in ink on a card and display with the dish. Name and group must be on back of card.
- All exhibits should be covered with clear plastic wrap for display purposes and ease of judging.
- One entry per category or class.
- Exhibitors who do not abide by the rules will forfeit their premiums.
- Food entries are to be in place by 9:30am on Saturday, October 11, and will be released no earlier than 4pm that day.
- All exhibits must be picked up by 5pm on Saturday or they will be discarded.
Cheese food recipes may be entered into the following classes: cheese main dish, vegetables, breads, desserts, cheese snack, salads and salad dressings. Cash awards, as well as ribbons, will be given to 1st through 5th places. The Blaine County OHCE will be awarding champion ribbons to the Grand and Reserve Champion in both the Junior and Senior Divisions.
The Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service offers its programs to all eligible persons regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, or status as a veteran, and is an equal opportunity employer.
