FREE Indigenous Peoples Day at First Americans Museum

Features a family-friendly celebration of First Americans' arts, music and culture with hands-on art activities, traditional sports and games and performances ranging from hip-hop to stomp dance. This come-and-go event will include stickball games, advocacy booths and cultural performers.

This family-friendly event highlights the diverse cultures, histories and contributions of the 39 Tribal Nations in Oklahoma. The main stage will feature contemporary acts LABRYS, Kalyn Fay (Cherokee) and AJ Harvey (Ponca/Pawnee/Hidatsa), as well as the Chickasaw Dance Troupe. Between performances, host drum Thunder Boy will facilitate social dances. A round-robin tournament will feature many of the best stickball players in the country. The four teams include athletes from the metro area and Cherokee, Chickasaw and Choctaw nations.

Non-partisan advocacy booths and a panel discussion will inform guests about current issues in Indian Country, including health and wellness, sovereignty, missing and murdered Indigenous people and voter registration. Visitors may purchase a discounted gallery admission ticket for $5 to learn more in the museum's two inaugural exhibitions, OKLA HOMMA and WINIKO: Life of an Object.

Visitors may purchase Native-made items from the renowned FAMstore, proceeds from which support free FAM programs for communities and schools. Thirty Nine Restaurant will offer Indigenous-inspired cuisine with advance reservations available. Local food trucks will provide additional outdoor dining options.

Parking will be available onsite with overflow parking and shuttles available at the nearby Crooked Oak School District.

Popovich Comedy Pet Theater at the Mustang Performing Arts Center

Audiences of all ages can delight in witnessing the talents of trained dogs, cats, doves, parrots, goats, and more along with the excitement of human acrobats, mimes, contortionists and more.
