Are you limiting yourself because you haven’t been blessed with the same talent of some of the more successful people you see around you?  Maybe it’s in ministry, maybe it’s your profession, where you wish God had given you just a little more… talent.  I wanna tell you a quick story…

I’ve known my buddy Jeff for about 15 years.  He’s a radio guy also, and has been very successful throughout his career.  He married a former radio co-host of mine, and we’ve been blessed to have a friendship with them ever since.  There’s a problem, though.  God has given him a very unique talent.  He’s very good at what he does.  He has a unique wit, he’s a great storyteller, resonant voice… everything that I’ve always wanted to be in on the radio.  I envied his talent.  And even though God had given me my own talents, and I’m ashamed to say this, I would have eagerly traded my talents for Jeff’s.  And I know… that attitude is dishonoring to God, and, thankfully, God and I have since worked that out;  I’ve repented of that attitude, and I’m ashamed that I used to think that way.  I know now that Jeff’s gifts were for him, and God gifted me for a different purpose- MY purpose, and that’s a good thing.

Romans 12:6 says it pretty simply… “Having gifts that differ according to the grace given to us, let us use them…”

God gives great gifts, and the talent and desire that He’s given you is exactly what you need,  to do exactly what He created you to do.  And if you struggle sometimes to appreciate what you’ve been given… then I hope that this will encourage you to use your unique gifts be who God made you to be!
